It’s been a fairly busy, if not turbulent 30 days at Bulbul HQ. Our first Kickstarter campaign is now behind us and we’re pleased to say that it was a success. Funded at 717% with 201 backers, the overall response to the launch of Oblong via crowdfunding has been positive, and we’ve gained quite a bit of knowledge during the month-long campaign. Knowledge that we’re now eager to take with us into the next chapter of our Copenhagen-based watch brand.
At Bulbul, we’re always looking for new, innovative and different ways to communicate and interact with our customers. At first glance, Kickstarter might not seem like the obvious choice for an analogue Danish watch brand, but it posed an interesting challenge with new opportunities that we couldn’t really say no to. And we’re happy that we didn’t; the months of planning, strategizing, writing, filming and designing were definitely worth it, which the features in Wallpaper and other design-forward magazines were an encouraging testament to. In the end, Oblong's merger of time-honoured craft with contemporary Danish design proved to be right for Kickstarter, right for us and right for our audience.
